Savannah and UCDA

We had the chance to get away last week and decided to make it a little mini vacation. I attended the University and College Designers Association Conference in Savannah GA and Nick tagged along. On the way down we stopped in Buffton SC and spent the night with Brooke and Steven. It was great to hang out with them again and catch up. Saturday, we headed into Savannah and spent the day exploring until the conference started. The weather was beautiful the whole time we were there and we enjoyed walkind around downtown and eating good. Sunday we got to see my cousin Jen and her family which was a treat too! I did miss Tanner though, he spent the week in Swansboro with Mom and Dad C. As you can see, he was well taken care of much to Peanut's dismay.

I went home last weekend to retrieve Tanner and take part in the highly anticipated Mullet Festival but mother nature didn't cooperate and it was cancelled on Sat. due to rain. Oh well! Next year.

Here is a sampling of pics from Savannah:

Catching up

We've been busy...
Work, more work, school, softball games, bible study, design projects, and football games between the two of us. Add a recovering pup and a few migraines and that pretty much sums it up. I know, not very exciting in comparison to those of you, well, most of you who have little ones. But I'm going to share a few things anyway...

Tanner is so much better and we're relieved he's getting back to normal. He still has to be crated until his Oct. 2nd vet visit, which he hates but he managed to make it back into our bed two nights ago. The ring worm is almost gone too and his ears look 100% better.

The Blooming Tulip is doing very well and I'm loving it! I always have a job to work on and recently have been working on several at a time. God is good! Here's one of the latest, a 6-month announcement for my co-worker's little girl.

I'm sure I've mentioned before that we have the greatest neighbors in the world. They continue to love on us with food and flowers. Judy cooks at least one meal a week for her "kids" (that includes us along with her real daughter and family) and we get all kinds of desert and fresh vegetables through out the week. It's not uncommon for us to return dishes on a regular basis.

And the roses never get old either, I love having fresh flowers in the house. Tanner has an endless supply of treats and toys at their house too. I really hope we are half the blessing to them that they are to us.

I planted some mums and pansies today. I'm so glad fall is here, the weather has been much more enjoyable. I was excited to see that my gerbas are still blooming. I know, it's the little things...right?

And last but not least:
HOW ABOUT THAT WOLFPACK !!! Yesterday's game was so much fun, it's nice to get excited over a win again. It has been a while...anyway, the sunburn was totally worth it and we had a great time hanging out with family and friends. Sorry, no pics. Next time.

That's all for now, I think.

Hanging in there...

Well, this weekend has been devoted to taking care of Tanner and keeping him comfortable. He's really been a trooper so far under the circumstances. I can honestly say now that Nick and I know what it's like to be sleep deprived because "our baby" wouldn't sleep. Between the two of us we have had to trade off during the night checking on Tanner and trying to get him to sleep and stay off his leg. After the first night, I went back to the vet and got pills to sedate him because he was having such a hard time. Once they kick in, we all can sleep! I was the lucky one this morning about 4am when I was on the couch with Tanner that got peed on...don't laugh! Tanner was so out of it he was still sleeping and besides, how can you get mad at the poor guy when he looks so pitiful. Anyway, Tanner would like to share with you how he feels...Mon. morning we go to get the cast off.

"this lamp shade collar stinks, can't even scratch my itch. good thing my dad can help me out."

"get me out of here!"

"finally getting to rest with mom on the couch."

"can't wait to get this thing off my leg!"

Post-Surgery

So far so good! We picked him up this afternoon. He wasn't happy about being introduced to his new environment.

Check out his "little" cast with paw prints on it, cute but just pitiful along with the e-collar.
It wasn't long before he ended up here...and no, it's not breaking the recovery rules.

Poor thing! The cast comes off Mon. We'll keep you posted.

last days with a bum leg

We really felt bad about Tanner's surgery...so we loved on him and played with him so much extra this week leading up to Thurs. (Just incase you're wondering, Tanner's surgery was to fix his knee cap and the bones around it on his back right leg.)

This is what the living room looked like all week...

He has lots of favorites but this one is extra special because he knows it's wolfpack red! Not kidding...if you say go get the red one, he goes right to it.

Wed. night I think he knew something was up because he wanted to sit all by himself.

He's gotten several "get well" gifts too! We're thankful that our friends and family think a lot of Tanner like we do.

27!

I loved my ice cream cake, mom knew if it had flip flops, it would be perfect for me. Too cute!

Me, Mom and Dad

Nick got me a new chair to relax in for the deck...can't wait to enjoy it!

I celebrated all weekend and Monday (my actual birthday). We enjoyed dinner with Nick's parents on Friday night, lunch with Nanny on Sat., dinner with my parents on Sat. night, and dinner on Mon. night with Jonathan. I'm blessed to be a part of such a loving family!

sick puppy

It's been an interesting time around the Babbs' house. Tanner had a huge reaction to his rabies shot. After several vet visits and a trip to the emergency vet at 12am, we've decided he's not getting any more shots. Poor little guy has had a rough time this past week. He's finally starting to get back to normal...too bad he's scheduled to have surgery on his back right leg next thurs. I told Nick he's giving us good practice, but this is hard! The worst part is he doesn't even know what's going on and why. I guess it's some form of "tough love".
