meet my new man!

Is he handsome or what?!?

Most of you know that Nick was in a weight competition at work to try and shape up. It started in Jan. and ended this week. He's worked so hard and it shows! I'm so proud of him.

Hard to believe he looked like this in Dec.

And here he is today!

Nick lost a total of 63 pounds and almost weighs what he did when we first started dating in 1999. Amazing!

father's day weekend

We enjoyed a nice weekend with Dad for Father's Day. It included all of dad's favorite things: helping us get our yard looking good (maybe we enjoyed that more than he did, but he does like to cut grass), cooking out, hanging out, and most of all baseball (we are VIPs at the Mudcats now that J works with ticket sales). Baseball seemed to also be the theme for his gifts. All-star game hat and shirt along with a NCAA regional baseball from the games that were held at Doak. LOVE YA DAD!

Funny story behind this pic: Nick and I got dad these shorts in a YOUTH large, haha. Think they'll fit...probably not! So we had to make a little exchange.

anniversary flowers

Nick gave me some beautiful roses for our anniversary. Very unique and different but I really liked them. They look more orange in the pictures but in person they were more yellow and turned to an orange-red color at the tips.

These lasted for about a week, then Judy gave me some of her pretty roses and I mixed the two together which made for a very colorful and fun summer bouquet.

Mudcats game with the Turners

Saturday we had a great time with Brent, Amanda and Taylor. My brother hooked us up with tickets and free beach towels at the game. Thanks J! And despite the very hot and humid weather, it was a nice evening to be out at the ball park. Mudcats won too! Taylor is just precious and so much fun to be around. She was great and made it through the whole game, we were all very proud of her. Before we headed out to the field we cookout and enjoyed the AC. Let's do it again guys!
(Amanda was the one that remembered the camera so I got these from her)

More flowers from Judy...

On friday Judy gave me some more pretty flowers to enjoy this weekend/week. I can't wait till my hydrangea starts blooming like this. Love her calla lilies too!

Meet our sweet neighbors

Most of you have heard us speak of Harold and Judy. Some of you wanted to meet them so I decided to give them a blog post. They are a precious couple that take such good care of us. Not only do they treat Tanner like he's theirs, but they also feed us and give me flowers all the time. Judy has the most beautiful roses and is a wonderful cook. Harold has the best sense of humor and keeps up laughing. They run the grill up the road on Ten Ten and are some of the most gracious people we know. In fact, I think we've been adopted into their family and we love them!

Judy makes sure that I have fresh flowers like this in my house most of the spring and summer...it's great!

Meredith College 5 yr Reunion

My classmates got together and celebrated our 5 yr college reunion a few weekends ago. Amanda came and spent the weekend with me while Nick went to Charlotte to hang out with his brother. We had good time catching up and just hanging out like we used to when we lived together. Friday night we met some of the girls at Playmakers. Then on Sat. had breakfast at "the grill" and enjoyed a day at the lake before we met everyone for dinner at Porters. Limited pictures from dinner only...

My old roomate and dear friend Amanda

Gena and Me, we were in the same bible study through college

Funny story...your looking at Diego the frog and his crickets in Amanda's bag in the restaurant, haha.

May highlights

The biggest event last month was Jonathan's college graduation. It was a busy weekend but a fun weekend with family and friends. We had a party at our house afterwards for Jonathan and MaryBeth. We also celebrated Mother's Day and made sure Mom and Nanny knew how much we love and appreciate them.

We spent Memorial Day weekend in Swansboro. Despite the sinus infection that I conveniently got the day before we left to go home, we still managed to enjoy time with family, eating plenty of seafood and the beach. Aunt Sandra and Nanny stopped by on their way to Durham and J and MB surprised Mom and Dad later by coming home for just Memorial Day. Only snapped a few pics...

Updates coming soon!

As I promised, you'll get the scoop on what we've been up to during the month of May real soon! I'm sure you're dying to know...haha.
